The Last Days of Nectarine Season

To me, nectarines are the best fruit.
Sweet, but still hints of tartness in the skin.
The skin is smooth, unlike a fuzzy peach.
Honestly just perfection.
But as September quickly passes by, nectarine season comes to an end.
My mother-in-law brought over this box of 24 nectarines when she visited us.
These recipes are how I indulged in the last of the nectarines.

1. BREAKFAST SMOOTHIE
Ingredients
·2 nectarines
·1-2 bananas
·Oat milk (or milk of choice)
·Up to 1/2 cup oats
·ice
Throw all that junk in a blender.
More milk=liquidy consistency
More ice and oats=thicker consistency
You can even add whatever sweetener you enjoy, but really ripe fruit makes this sweet enough for me!
Blend it up!
Enjoy!

2. NECTARINE AND TOMATO SALAD
This is a recipe from The Forest Feast and can be found here
This salad is DELICIOUS.
The mint and basil add freshness, the nectarine is sweet, the feta salty...
It hits all the tastes.
My five year old requested it for her birthday dinner.
And even my opinionated three year old loves it.

3. NECTARINE CRUMBLE
Ingredients
·6 nectarines
·1/4 cup sugar
·1 tbsp flour
·1/2 tsp cinnamon
·1/4 tsp almond extract
·2 tbsp orange juice
crumble
·1 cup flour
·1 cup oats
·1 cup sugar (white or brown or any mixture of the two)
·1 1/2 tsp cinnamon
·1 stick butter melted
Mix the fruit stuff together
Put into a baking dish
In another bowl mix the crumble ingredients
First with fork then with hands until crumbly

Crumble on the top of the fruit
Bake at 350F (175C) for 25-30 minutes
Enjoy! Serve with vanilla ice cream for extra level of delicious

Now go enjoy the last of the nectarines!
